What is Sedation Dentistry

Do you fear going to the dentist? When you envision having your teeth cleaned, are you overwrought with fear? Are you one of the one in 10 people that report having a bad past dental experience that makes you endure the painfulness of a toothache rather than getting necessary dental work? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, then you want visit Advanced Dental Care. We can provide you with a comfortable, pain-free dental experience by offering sedation dentistry.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is a method used by dentists to put patients in a relaxed, easy, and calm state-of-being by the use of sedatives. Dr. Koch is a sedation dentist that uses oral conscious sedation. He recommends oral conscious sedation for patients who have had a past traumatic dental experience, difficulty becoming numb, severe gag reflex, very sensitive teeth, or complex dental problems. With oral conscious sedation, he prescribes a sedative for you to take before your appointment. Because of the calming effects of oral sedation, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you to our office. Once in our office, we will take you to our operatory and monitor your vital signs. You will be in a semi-conscious state, but you will have little to no memory of the appointment. Once complete, your companion can escort you home to relax.

After undergoing sedation dentistry, many patients feel more confident about visiting Dr. Koch again.
