To begin your oral conscious sedation, Dr. Koch prescribes a small pill for you to take an hour prior to your dental appointment. The pill will put you in a relaxed state; therefore, you must ask someone to drive you to our office. You will start to become drowsy, and upon arrival at our office, our caring staff member will lead a relaxed you to the room for your dental work.
As the effects of the oral sedation increase and you are comfortable, Dr. Koch or one of his hygienists takes care of your dental treatments. After your dental work is completed, your companion can take you home to rest and enjoy the remaining calming affects of oral conscious sedation.
Oral conscious sedation usually only remains in your body for two to three hours and you will be back to your normal self thereafter; however, as in many cases with the use of sedatives, you want to make sure someone is with you and monitor you for 24 hours at home for safety purposes.
