Dental Bridges in Jasper, TX

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap.

Missing teeth make a difference in the way you chew, speak, and smile. Yes, smile. Studies have shown that people with missing teeth tend to be self-conscious about smiling and do not smile as often as they would like because of their missing teeth. Dental Bridges help to restore your smile, maintain the contour of your face, and lessen the stress in your bite.

Known as a fixed, partial denture, a dental bridge is a dental device used to replace missing teeth with false teeth. A dental bridge creates a natural look for tooth or teeth replacement, and bridges the space where one or more teeth may have been. If part of your dental treatment requires replacement of missing teeth, Dr. Koch, of Advanced Dental Care of Jasper, Texas, may recommend a dental bridge to replace your missing teeth. You can apply creativity when deciding on the material for your dental bridge. Materials such as gold, alloys, porcelain, or any combination of these materials are available for manufacturing the bridge. When the dental bridge is ready for application, Dr. Koch bonds the bridge onto your surrounding teeth for support, and he has easily restored your smile.

The process to construct and procedure to insert your dental bridge requires two visits to Advanced Dental Care. At your first office visit, Dr. Koch evaluates your remaining teeth, takes x-rays, and discusses with you dental options for your tooth replacement. Partial dentures or dental implants are possible options for tooth replacement, but Dr. Koch may recommend a permanent, dental bridge as the optimum treatment for your overall dental health. If a dental bridge is your choice, then, Dr. Koch, will design your bridge for manufacturing at his dental laboratory. The dental lab configures the dental bridge with three parts: a false tooth, held together by two crowns, similar to bridge construction. The device fits into the open space in your mouth left by the missing teeth to “bridge” the gap.

During your second office visit, Dr. Koch bonds the bridge onto to your adjacent teeth for support, creating a smile made especially for you.

If your natural teeth are missing due to injury, disease, or age, a dental bridge is a viable option for your teeth replacement. Just know that the success of your dental bridge depends wholly on proper oral hygiene on a daily basis.

To receive the optimum benefits from your dental bridge and to remove or lessen any dental health problems you may incur while wearing your dental bridge, Advanced Dental Care recommends the following care.

  • You should brush your teeth daily with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to eliminate wedged food between your teeth and the bridge. Wedged food can cause your gums and teeth to become diseased, which may sabotage the stability of your dental bridge.
  • You should floss daily, mindful of the hard-to-reach places between the dental bridge and its adjacent teeth.
  • You should have your teeth cleaned every six months by a member of the dental team at Advanced Dental Care.
  • You should watch the amount of sugar and starch in your diet. The residue from these foods may develop into damaging acids to form plaque.
  • You should avoid snacks, such as popcorn, hard or chewy candy, caramel, and nuts.

Again, the longevity of your dental bridge depends mainly on proper dental care and dental check ups. Normally, a dental bridge can keep you smiling for eight to ten years.

If you have any questions or concerns about dental bridges, Dr. Koch and his oral health team at Advanced Dental Care will gladly discuss them with you to determine if dental bridges are right for you.
